At this point, why lie? We are working on a new site and hope we can update this soon. For now, please have a look at these stunning photos!

Committed Team Wheaton
Olmsted Linear Park Engagement Photography
Let’s talk about little bit about commitment. When I decided to become a wedding photographer, I understood that I absolutely have to show up. Calling in sick is not a “thing” if you are a wedding photographer for obvious reasons! I’m very thankful for the clients that I have and it is an absolute must that I am there for them no matter how I feel.
Insert Crazy Story
These two lovely people are from the Atlanta area, however, they currently live in California. They have an adorable meeting story. They were both on a dating site, successfully made a date with each other and then realized they lived in the same building. If I remember correctly they ended up meeting on the elevator in the building. How neat is that? Since they both live in Cali, they had to travel to Atlanta to meet us for their engagement session. The weekend was set to be perfect, however, Saturday’s weather was a bit overcast. We decided together that Sunday would be a better day for us to shoot since we wanted some natural, beautiful sunlight.
The Queasy Evening
Saturday night, Bowie and I are getting ready for bed and I start to feel a little sick. I thought nothing of it and continued on with my nighttime routine. Around 1 am I am in full panic mode. I wake up in insane pain in all my joints and then, you guessed it, the puking begins. My only comfort is that Bowie is not sick. He has to run out to CVS and fetch his wife some emetrol in the hopes that all the barfing will stop. By the time he returns, we are in full shutdown. He is also sick. We thankfully fall asleep, but sleep is broken, sweaty and cold. THE FLU?! How could this happen to both of us at the same time?
Wedding Photographer’s Sweet Reality
The morning comes and our shoot is around 4:30. With only a few hours to get ready for a shoot, we can not cancel due to the fact our clients flew in for our session, Team Wheaton is a mess. We don’t alert the bride and groom because we don’t want to worry them about our condition. St the shoot, I think I lasted about 20 mins before I tell them of our situation. I kept a smile on my face and directed the shoot. As we moved to West Provisions, our second location, I sat in the back seat of the car and I cried the entire way. I felt so helpless. We finished up the shoot and rushed back to bed. Three days later Team Wheaton was back to normal.
Photo Delivery
About two weeks after most engagement sessions we deliver images. Two days later I get a call from the mother of the bride. I feared the worst, even though I liked the images we delivered. To my surprise, the MOB had called to thank me for taking care of everything and praised the photos. I was SO happy, but couldn’t help but tell her our story. She mentioned that she knew and they were sorry that happened. However, she was thrilled to tell me that their confidence in our ability to shoot the wedding day perfectly was further increased by our ability to shoot such great work while we were on our deathbeds! WIN! It might have struggled, and there were many tears, but my commitment to our clients won a special place in the hearts of not only our bride and groom but now the family too.
Check out the images below and ask yourself, are the photographers you’re looking to shoot your special day totally commitment you?

New Orleans Engagement Session | Audubon Park
New Orleans Street Car Engagement Session
We have been having a B – L – A -S – T getting to know our new city, Nashville! I’m going to have a post very soon with all of our city scouting adventures, however, if you follow Sharon Theresa Wheaton on Instagram, you may already know about all the fun we are having. A few weeks ago we endured a 7-hour drive to the great state of Louisiana to hang out in NOLA once again. I love that city. I ate oysters at every meal. My heart is so happy to be close to amazing seafood. Anyway, while I was dining on the “oyster aphrodisiac” I was not the only one feeling the love in the birthplace of Jazz, meet Adele and Drake. It’s funny because I think of music each time I think of these two adorable people. 😉 Much sweet and more in love than either of Adele or Drake’s collection of music, however, is the real Adele and Drake, the stars of this session. Take a look at this great Audubon Park and Downtown New Orleans Session.
Cheers From Music City

Ashlyn + Peter | Atlanta Engagement Photography| Freedom Parkway Bridge | Olmsted Linear Park
Greetings! We would like to introduce you to Ashlyn + Peter. This lovely couple comes to us from past clients Lindsey + Patrick! We’ve had the pleasure of photographing Lindsey + Patrick’s wedding a few years ago and a recent portrait session at Serenbe.
We are thankful that our clients chat about us to their friends. We like to get to know people. Let’s get to know Ashlyn + Peter.
(S) Ashlyn and Peter, tell us a little about you and Peter:
(A+P) Ashlyn grew up in Snellville with her younger brother Ryan, and her folks and both sets of grandparents still live close by. After graduating from UGA, she got her Master’s in Public Health at Mercer and now kicks butt with her work as an in-house consultant at Northside. She is an avid tennis player, runner, loves to cook and travel, but above all loves spending time with her family and friends.
(S) How did you guys meet?
(A+P) This is a very controversial subject, as recollections differ tremendously. The first time we truly spent some time together, though, was on a big group getaway set up by a mutual friend (thanks, Paul) over a weekend in the mountains.
(S) Tell us a little about your first date.
(A+P) After mountain weekend, Peter got Ashlyn’s number and asked her out for a first official date. We went to an awesome restaurant called P’cheen, and spent the next three and half hours(!) laughing and realizing how much we had in common. Needless to say, it was the perfect last first date anyone could ask for.
(S) Was there a defining moment your knew relationship was taking the step towards marriage?
(A+P) This one’s a little tricky, because having instant chemistry with someone can make it seem like it was headed there all along. Pete remembers raving to my friends extremely early on about how great Ashlyn was, and brought her to meet his family about a month after the first date. Luckily she wasn’t scared off, and the overwhelming consensus from everyone was that she was an absolute keeper. When you meet someone who’s beautiful, smart, funny, and kind enough to laugh at your dumb jokes, well- you hold onto her.
(S) Peter, how did you pop “The Question?”
(A+P) Since our birthdays, anniversary, and Valentine’s Day are all within a couple weeks of each other, we try to do a fun trip every year to celebrate. Peter’s family has a lake house in Northern Michigan that they’ve gone to for years, and it was the location of one of the first real “couple’s trip” we went on when we started dating. Although sub zero temperatures are not typically what comes to mind when most people think of a fun excursion, we decided to live a little and head up there for a few days at the end of January. We were out snowshoeing along the lake one afternoon, decided to stop and take a picture to document the fact that people still, in fact, snowshoed, and Peter set up the camera to try out the self timer feature. After proclaiming “it didn’t work” after the first attempt, he secretly turned it to video mode and hustled back over to try again…except when he got back to Ashlyn, he dropped to to a knee and popped the question. Months of throwing her off the trail (Peter’s note: be careful trying that at home) made the proposal a true surprise, and the fact that we got engaged in such a special place meant a lot to both of us.
(S) Sneaky job Peter. I love how it came together so naturally and he still captured the actual moment.
We are so excited to share Ashlyn + Peter’s engagement session with all of you. We showered the Freedom Parkway Bridge with cheap champagne. It was awesome.
Bowie and I are thrilled to be apart of Ashlyn + Peter’s wedding and can’t wait for Atlanta in the fall. Enjoy!

Ashlyn + Peter | Atlanta Engagement Session | Preview
Greetings Fans! I have a fun little preview to share with you guys from yesterday’s Atlanta engagement session. Ashlyn + Peter and totally adorable and we are so excited about their coming wedding.
We also have some pretty exciting new to share. Bowie and I have decided that it is time to move on from the name Alternative Life Photography & Design. This business name has served me so well and we have grown so much as a company because of our out-of-the-box name. However, I feel that my work has taken a pretty drastic turn in the last few years and we believe that with out changing styles and philosophies we are ready for a brand new business name. We are still in the works but with in the coming months some big changes will be coming to the face of our business. We will be introducing “Sharon Theresa Wheaton” before the end of this season. We are super excited for a big change and hope you will be too. For now, take a look at our preview and fall in love with Ashlyn + Peter. Cheers!

Ashley + Jordan | Piedmont Park Engagement Session
Ashley + Jordan | Piedmont Park Engagement Session
Meet Ashley + Jordan! This adorable couple (and their adorable dog) have the honor of being our first wedding of the 2015 season. YAY! We shot their engagement session in the beginning of the fall at the lovely Piedmont Park. We met this adorable couple because of the ever amazing Stella-Harper Events. We are so excited to be working with Ashley, Jordan, Stella-Harper as well as 3Ring. We are so excited for their beautiful March wedding. Here is a little about this amazing couple right from the bride. We look forward to hearing the full details of this couples amazing story once 3Ring puts it’s magic together.
Engagement Story from the Bride:
Jordan and I met through friends in Athens, GA at the beginning of our last year at UGA. It was love at first sight and we have been together since – it will be 7 years this September. The night that we met, we did not leave each other’s side and ended up at a concert at the Georgia Theatre where we also shared our first kiss. Jordan surprised me at that very spot almost 7 years later where we shared our first kiss by setting up our engagement at the Georgia Theatre after work one day. Needless to say, I was completely surprised because my birthday had just passed and we had a vacation planned shortly after so I was sure that he would have done it during our trip if it wasn’t done over my birthday weekend. Now we can reminisce on the night we met and the night that we got engaged in the very same spot at the Georgia Theatre 🙂
Angie + Gerald | Piedmont Park Engagement Session
Angie + Gerald | Piedmont Park Engagement Session | Meet Angie and Gerald! We had such a great little session at Piedmont Park this past fall. Here’s some sweet words about the couple right from the bride:
What’s your story and how were you engaged? I am a physical therapist and Gerald is a paralegal. We like outdoor activities or DIY projects. We met here in Atlanta out and about on the town one night. We have been together a little over two years. Most weekends we are tinkering in the yard or working on a home project, and having cookouts with friends. We recently got a new puppy and he was used in the proposal as a prop. Gerald had a new name tag made with the big question on it and sprung the question on a Thursday. He really wanted to surprise me which is hard to do because usually I can read him like a book, and he is always trying to give gifts early on gift giving occasions.
The sweet pup made a special appearance in the session as well. Check out their adorable session! 🙂
