Olamide + Dotun Married | Agnes Scott College | I love a great story. I find that in life if you were meant to be, the universe will find a way to make things happen even if you are half a world away. Today on the blog we have just that – love from a serious distance.

Meeting and Falling In Love

Olamide and Dotun are both Nigerian, born and raised. Their Nigerian heritage is a very big part of their life, and most importantly, part of their relationship. Olamide was raised in Nigeria until she was 15 and Dotun was her neighbor and great friend. Life for Olamide had some travel plans and she left Nigeria at the age of 16 to move to the US. In 2007 her sister was married back in Nigeria and, of course, she traveled  for  the wedding. While visiting she connected back with her old friend, Dotun. For the next year Olamide and Dotun would chat on the phone and Skype often until each realized their friendship was growing into something different. The two made a very hard decision to start dating each other living a half a world away.  Eventually, Dotun moved to the US to be with his beautiful lady! 🙂

In April of 2012 Dotun totally surprised Olamide with a lovely proposal. Here it is in the bride’s own words:

Dotun proposed in April 2012 and it was a total surprise. My birthday is April 10 and in 2012 fell on a Tuesday. The original plan was to go to dinner on that day with a few friends. However on April 7 (the Saturday prior), some of our friends invited us over for board games and dinner. When we arrived, I was surprised to find that all of my friends were present and it was a surprise birthday party. I was shocked but very happy. We ate, drank and danced. About 1.5 hours later, the guests started to present me with gifts and Dotun opted to go last which I didn’t think twice about. After everyone gave me their gifts, I was getting ready to cut the cake when he took my hand and I heard people screaming. I looked over and saw him get on his knees. I was so shocked, I apparently tried to run away 🙂 It was all soo sweet. He popped the question and I said yes. He put the ring on my finger and it was soo gorgeous I started to cry. None of the guests at the party were aware beforehand of the proposal, so they were just as surprised as I was. I later found out that my sister helped him pick out the ring in Atlanta. Needless to say, it was a wonderful night.

To Olamide and Dotun (Ola and D as we call them) We are SO thrilled that your long distance love and friendship turned into the most important relationship of your lives. You are so humble about your love and it shows. D, in every photo of you I can see all the love you have for Ola. Lindsey + Patrick Married | Georgian Terrace | Lutheran Church of the Redeemer | Trolley Barn

Greetings fan! We’ve got a beautiful wedding on the blog for you today. A lot of my past wedding client know this, but one of the first questions I ask potential clients to get to know them a little is “Who did you meet?” These two had some very *interesting* answers. Lets start with Patrick’s answer from one of our first emails together:

“Lindsey and I met several times through a mutual friend before we started dating (though I was quite smitten each time I saw her).  A year and a half after we first met we managed to go on our first date, and since then, we’ve been inseparable. We went to the drive-in movies for our first date, and we’ve returned back to it many times. We’ve been together for about two and a half years and engaged for six months. I proposed to Lindsey last June at a cabin in the North Georgia Mountains. I surprised her by hiding the engagement ring in a scrapbook I made for her. When she turned to the page that had the ring hidden on it, I dropped to a knee, and was surprised when Lindsey slammed the book shut and began laughing hysterically! Lucky for me… I could tell it was a good laugh and I eventually got a yes out of her!”

Most of the time the bride is my point of contact so I was very intrigued when Patrick took the time to answer all my questions. Later that day, I was surprised to find another email from the Lindsey answering all my “get to know you” questions too. Let’s read what Lindsey had to say:

Greetings fans! Today we have we stunning LIndsay and the handsome Danie’s wedding and the Carl House to share with you all! Check out the Occasion Magazine’s Online Feature! 

A Match.com made in heaven!

Danie and Lindsay met over 3 years ago on Match.com The couple have very demanding jobs and they were not having luck on the “love front.” Each decided to do what many people do to meet friends – head to the internet! 😉 Lindsay says “from the very first date with Danie she knew this was something different.” In August of last year Lindsay and Danie headed out to Cape Town, South Africa for a trip that would change their lives! Lindsay says, “It was absolutely the most amazing trip I have ever been on! That was my first time to South Africa and I have to say it was a trip of a lifetime! Danie  proposed at a look out point called Signal Hill which looks over the city on one side and the ocean on the other, it was absolutely stunning!”

Lindsay and Danie were married at the Carl House in June! We seriously could not have had a more beautiful and relaxed day! The Carl House is a stunning location for any event – but this particular day was extra beautiful because it did not rain one drop – a rare event in Atlanta these days! Old Decatur Courthouse | Stella-Harper Weddings – We are so excited to share Peter and Kim’s (Seunghun) amazing Old Decatur Courthouse Wedding! We are always so happy to work with the great people over at Stella-Harper Events – the day always runs so smoothly when working with miss Emily and her crew – and this wedding was no different. Peter and Kim are the sweetest couple and both were super calm the entire day of their wedding. From the moment they saw each other at their first look, through the release of their wish lanterns, they were inseparable! I also can’t get Gundam Style out of my head for ever due to the fact it was basically the theme song of their day! That’s how fun they are! Their bridal party and the bride and groom set the whole party off and entered into this very iconic song and the energy continued!

To the bride and groom – Bowie and I are always so happy to be apart of the most amazing days of commitment. We are honored to have see you two take the next step in what will be an amazing life for the both of you. Your happiness and love for each other spreads like fire to everyone around you. A whole lot of southern charm and a great deal of northern soul make the relationship between Matthew and Amy so totally perfect! This entire day was filled with happy tears, laughter and a ton of dancing!! To the happiest bride, the calmest groom and the greatest family – Bowie and I say cheers to your amazing  love! We hope you guys enjoy this little glimpse into their amazing wedding day.

When you dream of your perfect wedding day I’m pretty sure most would not imagine a day filled with rain. It just so happens that secretly I wished for a *little* rain on Amy and Matthew’s amazing wedding day so we could shoot this amazing rain shot you see below! I might have asked the rain gods for a little too much as it rain the entire day. You could NEVER tell by the happiness that *poured* out of this amazing bride and groom. Bowie and I were so thrilled to watch Amy and Matthew say their “I do’s” and capture one amazing party!

To Amy and Matthew – We wish you guys the most amazing life together and all the happiness in the whole world! We are so thankful that you let us be apart of your amazing, love and laughter filled day.

Brooke + Jessica are Married | Hyatt Grand Cypress | Orlando, Florida

Welcome back blog followers! Yes it’s true our season has started very early this year! We were so thrilled to hear our good friend Brooke found the love of her life and was ready to take the committed leap into marriage.

You always remember your first. Your first love, your first time you ran a 5K, the first time you  achieved a goal you’ve worked so hard to accomplish. Well, Miss Jessica and Miss Brooke will forever be Alternative Life’s very first Same Sex Marriage! I have to say –  right out of the box  – I don’t like calling their marriage “same sex marriage” because to me, there is no difference. These two girls are so in love and to Bowie and I, this is the only thing in the world that matters. Their family is incredibly supportive, loving and amazing. I balled at the toast given by all the family members because they support and love these two ladies so very much. Brooke and Jessica have found comfort and stability and true love in each other and that is a beautiful thing. I’ve know Brooke fow a long time  and I’ve never seen her as happy, humble and sweet as she was on the day she married Jessica!

We had the pleasure working at the Hyatt Grand Cypress in Orlando. As you may know Bowie and I have some amazing history in Orlando! 🙂 We jumped at the chance to head down and be apart of this great event. We would like to give a special thanks to Jennifer at Just Marry! She was such a pleasure to work with and we were thankful to have her and her team around! OK – I’m done talking – Please check out the photos of this amazing wedding day! Just a side note – IT. WAS. FREEZING. Orlando was freezing on the day of the wedding – but these ladies had their dream wedding – and it was beautiful! Cheers to ALL the love in the world – and all the laughter through tears!

Amanda + Tyler are Married | Summerour Wedding | Atlanta Georgia

Greetings all! As promised I will be blogging more and more as the days go on and we move into 2013! It is on the list of things I have to improve. Everyones like to images so I need to stand and deliver! 😀 Today on the blog we have the amazing Amanda + Tyler. We just love these guys and are so happy to have be apart of their amazing, SUPER fun, emotional wedding. It was also the first time we got to work with Mrs. Emily from Stella-Harper Events. Emily is the “real deal” guys! If you are looking for a stellar, hard working planner and event designer – look no further than Emily. She stopped at nothing to be sure her clients are happy and enjoying every minute of their special day. Just a dream! We also shot at a new venue – the beautiful Summerour. This beautiful studio is located in Midtown but while you are there you feel like you’re in Tuscany! (Or what I feel like Tuscany will feel like when I finally get to go there in a few years) The staff was great and we very much enjoyed our time at their amazing venue!

We are so happy to share the beautiful images from Amanda and Tyler’s day. We wish the happy couple all the joy in the world and know they have a full life of happiness coming their way. Cheers to everyone who was apart of the wedding and cheers to love!

Mary + Derek are Married | The Fox Theatre | Atlanta Georgia Wedding

Greetings Blog Fans! Well the year is rounding to a close and this is typically when we start to blog all the weddings we have been a little behind on! 🙂 This will be a thing of the past as of next year. I plan on blogging super soon after the wedding and changing a few things around a little bit so all you loving fans can see our work a little more quickly! Anywho – I wanted to go ahead and start this lovely blogging train that will be going on for the next few weeks into the new year!

Meet Mary and Derek! Mary and Derek we married in the summer at the amazing Fox Theater in Atlanta! This venue is by far one of my favorites in the city to work at or many reasons. On reason being that it is unbelievably beautiful and another is because of the amazing staff. If you are a wedding professional and you’ve ever worked at the Fox then you know the amazing Jim! I seriously don’t know what we would do without him on a wedding day. He is so supportive as the day progresses and we are thankful to have him around! Mary and Derek’s day  was no different! Bowie and I worked closely with Jim to make this beautiful, movie themed wedding go off with out a hitch! (Or with a hitch if you get me) 😛 Mary and Derek have a truly special relationship. They are perfect for each other we were so so thrilled to be a part of their amazing day! Check out the highlights below! We wish the happy couple all the joy and love this world can bring.
